The New ERP is Avanue-Highlights from Gary Shergill’s Conversation with Patricia Ames

August 1, 2025 Avanue Team Interview Insights
At the Konica Minolta Dealer Summit, BPO Media’s Patricia Ames sat down with Gary Shergill, CEO of Avaniko Technologies, to discuss the evolution of Avanue the rebranded and enhanced version of the FORZA ERP platform and how SAP Business One continues to empower resellers and service providers through automation, integration, and innovation.

Shergill shared his background as one of the earliest SAP Business One consultants in the U.S., describing how his journey evolved from implementing the platform for American Express to leading a global consulting team that has now completed more than 150 implementations across 24 countries.

Key Takeaways

Avanue is built on the belief that ERP should work in real time, from anywhere. By extending SAP Business One into mobile and web environments, Shergill’s team has eliminated the need for users to be tied to a desk or terminal. Warehouse teams can now scan, move, and update inventory directly from tablets, instantly syncing data back to the ERP saving hours of manual entry and improving accuracy across departments.

Automation is another central theme. Avanue’s enhancements to Business One focus on streamlining repetitive tasks such as creating delivery tickets, warehouse transfers, and shipping labels while integrating EDI and AI-driven workflows to reduce human error and manual data handling. Shergill also points to IoT and AI as key innovation drivers, enabling systems to detect issues from temperature fluctuations in storage facilities to printer maintenance needs and automatically trigger alerts or service actions.

These innovations come together in the Avanue Customer Portal, which empowers end users to track shipments, make payments, create service calls, and view invoices online significantly reducing support calls and improving the customer experience.

Looking Ahead

Over the next 12 months, Avaniko is investing heavily in platform stabilization, web client development, and advanced automation. As Shergill put it, the goal is simple but ambitious: to bring a legacy ERP into the modern cloud era with the mobility, intelligence, and connectivity today’s resellers expect.
